There is an 8 page article on The Horn Comb Industry in the book
'Kenilworth. An Historical Miscellany' by John H. Drew, (1969), The
Pleasaunce Press, plus a photo of a horn comb, and a list of apprentices.
(No BETTYs though). You may not be able to get hold of a copy of this book
as it was published locally and doesn't appear to have an ISBN number. I
could photocopy it for you and post it if you could let me have your home
address. I can't scan it as we are having trouble with our scanner at the
moment.

This book also has an extract from a copy of Wm. West's Warwickshire
Directory 1830 for Kenilworth and has the following BETTYs listed:

BETTY, Joseph, maltster, High-street
BETTY, J. butcher, High-street
BETTY, Wm, farmer, Ground-farm
BETTY, Wm. victualler, Castle-end

I also remember that there is another study of the Horn Comb Industry in our
local Kenilworth library. This was done by a school girl several years ago,
but she investigated many families. I'm in the library a couple of times a
week at the moment doing research and could look at it to see if it has
anything about your BETTY family if you would like.

Best wishes
